It is an honor and privilege to greet you as we welcome 2015 and celebrate two milestones: CIEE Japan’s 50th year and the TOEFL test’s 50 years as the world’s preeminent English language proficiency test. The CIEE Japan-ETS TOEFL test relationship is longstanding and continues to build from strength to strength, thanks to your collective, ongoing efforts.
As Senior Director for Brand Management and Strategic Marketing for the TOEFL family of assessments and test prep products, I, along with the Princeton, NJ-based TOEFL Marketing Team, work closely with partners like CIEE to ensure the best communication possible of our tests’ features and benefits and that students and institutions and other stakeholders alike can access the information necessary to fulfill their goals and missions.
This is a particularly challenging and exciting time as demand spikes for English language proficiency around the world and the need for new solutions is critical. Japan is no exception.
I was fortunate to visit in and around Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka in December to immerse myself in understanding the Japanese education system and to attend a MEXT Council of Education meeting. These experiences are invaluable to my ability to support your activities.
The future is bright as we at ETS, work together with CIEE Japan, towards offering the best English language learning and assessment opportunities possible.
